hey there, made by debut in the backyard sycamore on saturday. i think i did pretty well, all things considered. picture this, a guy hanging from a tree, about 1 foot off the ground, with a copy of the tree climber's companion in one hand, and a pile of climbing paraphernalia on the ground around me. i took it slow, made it safely up and back a couple of times. I definitely got some looks from the neighbors. My wife has already nicknamed me the "dangler".
thoroughly enjoyed myself. I need to get with some experienced climbers, to see how its done. I'm in central New Jersey, anyone around?

yeah, i'm out in the merck zone. decided to get into climbing _base_d on an estimate i got for some tree work. bought a place up in maine last fall. there is a stand of large mature maples around the farmhouse, with some large branches over the roof. i gagged on the estimate i got to trim them back. so onto the net, did some research, and decided to give climbing a try. once i get some confidence, i think i'll be able to handle the job ok. now to prioritize my sport activities. another gear bag for the spare room.

Climbing trees and CUTTING trees are two very different events. you may want to save yourself and just hire a professional to trim your trees.

Sure it might cost your a bit of money, but it could save you LOTS MORE.

Hey Dangler. Your experience in tree climbing sounds pretty much like mine. Hanging from a rope 4 inches from the ground trying to get up a tree with a lot of gear seating right next to me and the instruction book on the other hand. The view from the neighbors Priceless, for everything else including the climbing gear from New Tribe, there is Master Card!

Four years later and a few trees down I still enjoy Climbing and having fun. Take it easy and be careful ! Tree Climbing and pruning gets pretty dangerous pretty fast! But it you plan ahead of time, ask for advice and do not get careless you will get your trees trimed or removed and have fun in the process. Go to the treebuzz.com and read from experienced professional arborist to learn the Important parts of SAFETY gear and Proper procedures and good luck. That is why Arborists charge a lot of money! Stay low and practice, practice , practice.
