Copperheads- Yeah! 3 Years, 3 Months ago
I have had several reports of coperheads climbing. Cool indeed! I used to hunt snakes as a kid until I brought home a small baby cotton mouth. My naturalist parents were NOT impressed. I had to go back to turtles until I brought home an oversized alligator snapper. Busted again!

Just last week I had a Black Rat Snake slither by my day-pack that carries my gear.

Note to self - keep pack zipped.

Tree Climber's Toast: may we climb a 100 year old oak tree together, and may we plant that tree tomorrow.

NOTE TO SELF--REMEBER THE ZIPPER! 3 Years, 3 Months ago
Seiously, I really never thought about all these suckers... I may have to go back to blousing my pantlegs in my boots, and double checking my fly, not to mention my pack!. The thought of a snake IN my pants really freaks me out!

As far a learning from the nasty little critter...er, friendly snake, Moss, I'll decline. He made a poor limb decision, and s_link_ed away defeated after a 6' fall.

The snake was a no show. We ended up camping in a far less wild area, which worked well with the group that we had. I did have a small bird land on my hammock though Sunday morning just before sunrise. That was pretty cool.

Climb Safe!

I would have thought that the snake climbing the tree IS a rope.

Cheers,

Then here's to the oak, the brave old oak,
Who stands in his pride alone!
And still flourish he, a hale green tree,
When a hundred years are gone!
