Florida climbs 1 Year, 3 Months ago
It was a great day to go tree climbing. I was lucky enough to meet with some friends from another tree arborist site Terri and Don, in Florida over the weekend during a recent visit.

After much preparation by my hosts, they found us a Bombax to climb, just outside the Ringling’s Estate.

We meet early to beat the heat which reached about 98, with water and snacks we set our lines and up we went. Super glue was put on a branch to keep one of the climbers butt in place so they did not wander too much onto outer limbs. Once it was peeled away that climber was able to take several photos of the other climbers. (dang my memory card on my camera failed as I was loading the 50 or so pictures that I took )

Limb walking was easy on the tree, which has large diameter branches. This tree is used by several other climbers and groups for training so there was little deadwood in the tree.

From the heights we were able to climb to we were rewarded with views of the Florida Ringling’s College and University buildings, Ringling’s Estate and the Gulf of Mexico, all of which were only yards away.

After several hours of chatting and meandering about the tree, we called it a day.

Also while in the area, I spotted a grove a tree’s at a local park and on Sunday, I was again able to get into another tropical tree. That was a type of Banyon (I think) but I have to still identify it. I will share the location of that tree as there was a grove of about 5 that would be great for another rec climb. Plans are to visit the area and this time tree-t my hostess and host to a climb in those trees.

Thank again for all the fun and memories
