Ever on the lookout for climbing gear, I ran across these guys at a Hamfest in Richmond, VA:
http://www.ezhang.com/
They make a wrist-braced slingshot with a fishing reel attached. Hams use it for setting antennas.
It's a bit pricey, but well constructed and very comfortable to use. On their website, there's a calendar of Hamfests they'll be visiting. If you catch them at one, they'll probably give you the "show special price".

Regards all,
-Knothead

Yeah but the ad says "no climbing trees" where is the fun in that. Just kidding. I know of some climbers that have been experimenting with this or one like it. I have not as I am still doing it the good old fashioned way and I haven't had the need to get that first pitch higher than I can throw. But you never know what tomorrow will bring.

I hope you don't mind my kidding with you! Have a great weekend.

i'm spectical if the fishing reel is really necessary, if not you could just get a black widow catapault for £10 and do just the same job

Steve,

Can you convert your £10 into the universal conversion rate: how many beers does that buy?

Tree Climber's Toast: may we climb a 100 year old oak tree together, and may we plant that tree tomorrow.
