I have been climbing for six years and have not ventured out from split tail, foot lock and pantin.
Interested in trying petzl with ascender straps for single and double. Any recommendations? Thank you.

i recently set myself up with an ascender and strap system. i recommend the cmi straps sherrill sells. as far as ascenders, i have owned both cmi and petzl and both are great.

i found that using this setup makes ascending much easier but descending more difficult and involved. when possiblein to use, i highly recommend over other climbing _style_s.

Thank you Sitka. I am not experienced in SRT , only DRT as a professional arborist. Bare with the ignorance but for descending are you implying a figure 8 or descender when in SRT? I intend to take tree week next year so hopefully my responses will seem a bit more informed. Ha Ha

Lots of descenders systems out there. Some like racks, Pttzl ID, Piranah, and others. Tree Week will show you many options.

I use CMI's because I like the large room for my hands.

I also use an USHBA Basic rigged as a self advancing hitch device on DbRT because it goes up and holds and then I can rock it and it goes down- kinds like a poor man's LockJack.

For pure SRT the NewTribe straps with CMI's are good.

See you at the top,
Dan

I suggest to purchase the CMI Acenders. They have a higher TS and the teeth are not at sharp and long(less wear on the rope)
