tree seat 1 Year, 9 Months ago
Just wondering if anyone knows of a tree seat. I've found an abo gear floataway model but am leery that is not designed for true tree climbing use, http://www.abogear.com/floataway.html.

Hammock Chair 1 Year, 9 Months ago
Welcome to tree climbing, Kev.

I have a seat like the one in the _link_ that I've rigged high up in a tree. Of course, when I use it I'm still tied in to the tree (with most all of the slack taken out of that line). If the chair were to fail in some way it would fall out from under me and leave me hanging in my saddle.

I rig the chair to make a goal that climbers can enjoy reaching. It's not really much more comfortable than a comfortable harness, or just finding a good resting spot in the tree's larger branches.

Here's a picture of 2 SkyChairs, in action. I use them when setting up my Tree Top Tables for that romantic dinner date aloft. If you use this type of seat in the tree, be sure to secure the dowels so they don't slip out and hit a bottom dweller. (notice the pin securing the dowel to the chair)

I have one Airchair like Tengu uses. It is safe and comfortable to rest up in the tree or near the ground. You should be tied to the harness if you are high in the tree anyway. But they are relatively a good deal for the price, (less than $50).
I got mine on line from Sierra Trading post. Enjoy it!
