ROPES - which one do you use 1 Year, 7 Months ago
Hello to all - I am just about ready to purchase a rope - my first ever. I have climbed with several and have sat in a show room tieing knots in others:

safety blue, fly, velocity, blaze, hi-v - poison ivy, to name a few.

i know each is different - i like hi-v.

Is anyone climbing on this - what is your opinion?

should i order with the spliced eye or not.

thanks

jz

i have poison ivy with a spliced eye and I like it very much, almost too much . . . i'm so afraid of wrecking it that I usually end up climbing one of my beat up lines, saving my poison ivy for that magic perfect climbing tree that i'm always looking for.

Blaze for Me 1 Year, 7 Months ago
I have climbed originally on Sportline ( No longer sold). I have also used Arborplex ( A low cost arborist rope at $70 for 120 ft) and now I just got 150 ft of Blaze. It is pretty bright and easy to see in the tree. Master Nick put a splice on one end of my rope. I like it so far. I also have 150 ft of KMIII that is only good for SRT since you can not put many climbing knots on it. Nich like the Blaze also He will probably reply soon.

the problem with blaze for me is the color - is to busy and it really boths me - so cool or calmer colors are desired, yet - i agree you need something that you can see.

thanks

I am climbing on Chameleon. It is sold by New Tribe and it is a nice green color with hints of yellow and blue. It's made by Yale and is identical to blaze in construction. You pay for the nice color scheme however. I like it enough that I will buy more when I need rope.

Edit: Wow, I just realized that this is My first post over here. I couldnt keep my mouth shut forever.

i looked at the catalog and saw that - it is the same construction as blaze - do you find that a stiffer rope - as hi-v and ivy are softer and easier to type - but i agree on the color being a nicer blend
