You could try building an X-strut for each end of the treeboat, kind of an upside-down suspension bridge. You'd need to secure the struts to the branch so they won't fall out when you bounce around on the boat. Bamboo would be a good material. You could also try securing a length of bamboo on each side of the boat and fix the ends to the corners of the boat where the bottom of the struts attach. This would allow you to set it with less tension but still keep it reasonably flat.

Looking at the drawing, the struts should be set as close to vertical as possible for optimal load balancing. Ok, back to work I go.

One problem. What would you do if it was raining?

Check out the hammock add-ons available from New Tribe:
Treeboat Shelters

Hanging the 'boat under a branch you'd have to get a little more creative to stay dry.

Re:Tree Camping Issues 4 Months, 4 Weeks ago
I have not done extensive tree camping so I do not pretend to be an expert on the topic. The few times I have installed my tree boat and sleep inside it I find it difficult to feel comfortable for my legs. I am sure that others with more night-outs find it totally normal and comfortable and part of the experience. My legs bend in a weir uncomfortable position and I usually slide down to the middle of the boat into a "fetal position" that with my _frame_ and being as old as I am.....OK you get the picture.

I have seen great reviews from other users that have better experiences in a treeboat or tree hammock and they totally enjoy the experience. So your level of satisfaction varies with the user. I am fine camping on the ground on a tent on a thermal rest and have had many great nights camping but I will have to give tree camping another trial to see if I get right or if I just move on into the next adventure.....Holiday Inn Camping! hehehehehehe
