Red tailed hawk vs Church construction 8 Months, 1 Week ago
As many of you know, birds of prey have been increasingly moving into urban environments. A couple of blocks from my office a pair of red-tailed hawks built a nest on a church steeple. Unfortunately, the church is undergoing renovation. I've been monitoring the nest for several weeks, and it looked like things were going to be fine for everyone involved until last week when they started putting up more scaffolding threatening to surround the nest. US Fish and Wildlife got involved and the work has been stopped. I've been impressed with how accepting the church has been of the situation. Below is a _link_ to a story about the situation published in today's paper.

Then here's to the oak, the brave old oak,
Who stands in his pride alone!
And still flourish he, a hale green tree,
When a hundred years are gone!
