Certain words get "_" inserted before a 1 Year, 1 Month ago
You folks been noticing that certain words get the "_" character added before and after certain words in your posts? If you try and edit it out "_" doesn't appear in the edit window. Apparently the message board engine automatically adds this to words from some predetermined library, words that might be used in a coding language but can also be used in normal language.

Let see, here's a test, I'm just going to type some words that I've noticed that trigger this. Note that the "_" doesn't appear in preview, only after you've posted.

_base_
_frame_
_link_
_object_
_script_
_style_

Interesting. Some of these words get used in our conversations, any way to remove this bug? It's probably hard-coded but maybe it can turned off.

I've noticed it has to do with those

I was using the word m e t a l for something and it made it _meta_l

I think it thinks the word m e t a is for something else.

Just found that "_layer_" does the same thing, here's the current list:

_base_
_frame_
_link_
_layer_
_meta_
_object_
_script_
_style_

Re:Certain words get "_" inserted before a 1 Year ago
Hi everybody,
Here's what our webmaster has to say about this:

"This is a security measure to reduce the chance of a type of attack called 'cross-site _script_ing' , or XSS. These words are names of HTML tags that can be used to trick the browser into sending information to another web site."

He suggested we disable this feature but then there was the possibility of our website being compromised, so -- sorry -- we'll just have to live with it.

Testing...

_base_ _base_ b-a-s-e
_frame_ _frame_ f-r-a-m-e
_link_ _link_ l-i-n-k
_layer_ _layer_ l-a-y-e-r
_meta_ _meta_ m-e-t-a
_object_ _object_ o-b-j-e-c-t
_script_ _script_ s-c-r-i-p-t
_style_ _style_ s-t-y-l-e

Fragmented words such as _meta_l m-e-t-a-l seem to be the most obnoxious cases. It will also mess up posted _link_s.
