Anyone attending from Orlando area? How much gear? 3 Months, 1 Week ago
I took over my husbands account here---Originally from Northeast PA, we will be vacationing in Orlando the few days prior to the climb and am tryng to work out a way to attend. My husband is debating renting a car and driving up from Orlando, butI am looking for anyone else going from that area to share the ride?

I am full of questions about this...how much gear is everyone bringing? As we will be flying into Orlando, trying to decide what is the unnecessary items?

How does the lodging work? Where are the climbers actually staying at, or what are the options?
Hope it is not too many questions, I am trying to figure out what I need to work out for my husband to attend since he is busy working and doesn't really have time to do the planning.

Thanks for any info anyone can provide. As I am not the climber in the family, that would be him.

Read through Rendezvous details _link_ off the TCI front page, it should cover your questions about lodging options.

As far as gear goes, bring whatever you (or your husband) normally uses for rec climbing: harness, helmet, throwline, throw weights, 150' rope etc.

People who come in by plane bring the max gear they can take on the flight, people traveling in vehicles usually bring everything but the kitchen sink.

Prepare to have a great time!

I see the campsite is full. So he would have one of the hotel type rooms. He is interested in sleeping in the trees. Are the tents provided for that?

People who sleep in trees usually bring their own setup, usually either a portaledge or a New Tribe Treeboat. Check out the New Tribe web site for more info on tree boats.
