N. Y. Times article about Tree Loving Scientist 5 Years, 1 Month ago
Today's NY Times, Science Section, Page D3 featured a great article about Dr. Nalini Nadkarni, a "highly respected treetop canopy ecologist" at Evergreen State College in Washington. Check it out. Can't say as her idea of using action figure toys eg. a Treetop Barbie Doll, all rigged out in climbing gear, would be my choice as to how best to promote greater public awareness of the importance of trees, but she seems to be recruiting other scientists to her cause.
Climb on.

Then here's to the oak, the brave old oak,
Who stands in his pride alone!
And still flourish he, a hale green tree,
When a hundred years are gone!
