I just want to say that tree climbing gives us a new view of the canopy and allows a lot of time to study the transitional diversity as we move up the trunk!! I took two students to Panama this past summer and one of them studied epiphytes in a Ceiba. She really enjoyed the climbing and the "collecting" process as she moved along the "bowl" and branches of the tree. I hope to see more of the canopy as my skills become more developed.
