I've tried a setup similar. It work great if you have a place to stand to make your second pitch before you get to your tie-in point. The problem comes in the lenght of your bridge limits how close you can go to your TIP.

I only use a self advancing hitch for initial ascent. Once the second pitch has been made I switch over to traditional DRT on the other leg of my rope, therefore, no problems descending on that rig.

took a close pic jim, its a little blurry but you should be able to work it out.
tied this with a butterfly instead of a clove today as suggested by someone in another forum, it sat better on the krab like this.
Sawmill, to descend with this i just take the butterfly knot off and attach the krab back to my harness so its in a split tail set up again.
This is really better suited to a working arborist set up i think. just wanted something for those post lunch ascents.

Steve,

How many meters of advance do you get on a pull?

how longs your arm

no seriously, about the same as you would using a normal distel or V.T. just set like this you dont have to self advance the hitch, you can just pull yourself right to the top
