Self Rescue Question 2 Years, 5 Months ago
Interesting self Rescue Event.
After spending the overnight Saturday camping up in a treeboat in my backyard tree it was time to come down to the real world again. I collected some of my gear put on my New Tribe harness over my "sleeping harness" and lowered some of the gear in the hauling line down to the ground first. I decided to install my Grigri right below the split tail line on the single line that I have used to climb into the tree the night before. No big deal so far. I managed to go down slowly controlling both the Grigri and the Split tail Blake's hitch above it.

When I was almost to the ground I let the split tail run up the SRT line and lock up firmly on the down rope. I was stuck 5 feet from the ground without any possible way to release the tight grip of the Blakes hitch on the single line rope. I would like to hear your suggestions to see how I finally managed to lower myself to the ground without cutting anything or ruining any gear. Possible options move back up the line, release the split tail from the carabiner (Not possible, since it was opposite to the Grigri), no knife to cut the split tail line. You can consider the gear hauling line as part of the rescue options. Good luck rescuing me!
