Introduction 1 Year, 7 Months ago
Hi everybody! I wanted to introduce myself, as a new member of your. I have rock climbed on and off for about 10 years, and discovered technical tree climbing about 5 years ago. I have only climbed maybe 8 or 10 trees in my yard since then, but it was an enjoyable pursuit that I will be starting again.

My initial climbs were using a dynamic climbing rope (ick), my old, unpadded, climbing harness (ouch), and such. Initially I was using a soda can taped to a string, but I finally broke down and bought a weight bag and some slickline. Hopefully I’ll be investing in some more equipment soon (rope, saddle, and cambium saver).

I experimented a both DRT and SRT (I have some ascenders and a grigri). I taught myself using information online and “Tree Climber’s Companion” (first edition) so I’ll probably be posting some questions in the technique forum.

Also, Moss and others, I’ll be moving to Cambridge, MA, in July, if anybody wants to get together for a climb sometime.

That’s all! I just wanted to say hi before I started picking your brains.

Excellent, it will be great to have some more climbers in the Boston area.
