Dan House Rope Sleeve New Design 1 Year, 7 Months ago
I just received two of Dan’s new rope sleeves from New Tribe…and Wow, they’re great! The smaller size fits perfectly on 7/16” (11 mm) rope, like Fly, but is much smaller diameter than either Dan’s old ones or any of the various leather sleeves I’ve tried. Because of the small diameter, the great flexibility and because it doesn’t have a permanent “set” this sleeve installs easily in a crotch and slides readily along the rope. I highly recommend these new sleeves.

I have seen (and used) the original Elliot Su rope sleeve. I was fascinated by its flexibility but was disappointed by its small diameter.

From reading your post (above) I see that New Tribe now offers the Su Sleeve in a nice fat ¾ inch size marketed as an “Updated DAN HOUSE ROPE SLEEVE”. That is great news! Now we 12 strand solid-braid users can enjoy a bit of hi-tech on our climbs too.

BlakesHitch, thanks for the info!
Gotta’ get one,

Diffrent size rope sleeve 1 Year, 7 Months ago
Actually,I have both diameter size rope sleeve.
Last time I bring 2 kinds of small diameter rope sleeve to Oregon.the other size is a short one, that is for daisy rope(or you call it lanyard).
Tengu like it very much.for it is very light and easy to put it into your open climbing bucket.
I will bring some large diameter rope sleeve to the Rendezvous on August if you guys want to try it.
by the way,If I have time to make some short samll diameter sleeve,I will have you guys to try it.
The short and small one is very good for SRT and high anchor.I belive you will love it.

Try it! The 3/4" inside diameter version (for 11mm ropes) rolls up so small that it can be put inside a small bag on your harness. Much more compact and lightweight than the "traditional" liquid tight conduit sleeve.

I've been using a pair of Su sleeves since the fall for climbing with Chameleon. Nice (my previous default was thick Sherrill leather sleeves with NE Blue). My ONLY qualification with the Su sleeves is that the covering cracks in extreme cold (by extreme, I mean minus 10F or colder). Not likely to be a problem for normal (read: non-insane) people, and in fact the sleeve still works OK even with the cracks in the covering.
