Peter, Sportline is a single braid and has no core, so is technically a hollow braid...but it's woven so tightly that the hollow of the core doesn't really exist. It's much like samson's True Blue, Yale's newer Buzzzline and a few other manufacturers also make 12 strand single braid climbing lines.

I've never liked the 12 strands as climbing lines...but I've not climbed with them much.

Nick, I actually got the Maverick from an outfit called Bashlin Industries - electrical lineworkers supply. They only had these two left. Got a very good deal and may use them as backup ropes.

Flat ropes adn round ropes 1 Year, 6 Months ago  
I did not like the Sport line because it did not stay round. I personally like the nature of solid round ropes. Now back in the days when braided climbing ropes were new, there were many square ropes we arborists suffered through. But now life is different. Moe choices. 'An moe sho nuff is better as they say down south.
