Over the years I've heard several recommendations from reputable people. In no order... Climb on the rope, the pitch will wear off. Pine Sol soap Any of the citrus cleaners Veggie oil...peanut butter if you want something that is thicker and can be mooshed into the rope Wash the rope in the machine or a bucket afterwards.
