emr- I thought I responded to this weeks ago. WOOPS!

Yalex and Tenex I think are less than idea to use as general rigging slings (redirects, friction savers, etc) for tree climbers because the ropes are so loosely woven that it "picks" easily. It's not hard for a flake of bark or a twig to grab one tiny strand of the rope and pull it out, distorting the sling.

And for friction hitches, it's just polyester, so you have to be careful not to burn it.
