I have used both the triangular ones and the pear shaped ones and have used them in both the up and dowm configuration. If there are many biners ( 2 or more) attached to the Delta the wider part point up is easier to work with. If there is only one biner conected all the time during the climb ( so not tranfers or multiple attachments) then the narrow point pointing up is easier to monitor and keep it nice. Like Baker said the Delta can be safely loaded in any direction while properly close!
