As a rescue tech, I've logged many, many hours "on rope" , but not that many in trees. The more I read up on tree climbing, the more I felt I was missing something by using my rescue harness. Boy, was I missing something...Comfort!

I just got my New Tribe Tengu today. Right out of the box I could see that this is a quality piece of equipment. The stitching is very well done, and the materials are first quality. I was particularly surprised by how light it is.

The weather was nice today, a little cold, but nice, so I decided to try out my new rig right away. Because this was a new piece of equipment, I only worked low to get a feel for it. Putting the harness on was a snap - very easy to figure out, no surprises. I really like the double back style buckle on the waist strap. It feels very secure.
After a very short - about 5 min.- adjustment period, up I went. My first thought as my feet left the ground was "Harnesses are NOT supposed to be this comfortable!"
The back pad is comfortable and large, but not so big that it digs into my ribs or hips, and the leg pads - awesome. I hung around at about 10-20 feet for about an hour, reclining, sitting, standing and even inverting, with no leg discomfort whatsoever. That would never have been the case with my rescue harness. I can't wait for a day when I can really get out there and use this saddle for a good long time - hey, Saturday is only a day away!

I only gave the Tengu a 3 rating for durability because it is brand new. Based on experience, I can tell this saddle is going to hold up to lots of abuse for a very long time.

From now on, I'm a member of the New Tribe!

For the climber who really enjoys the process of the climb, and truly appreciates their comfort once aloft, this saddle is a keeper and a half. I'm not sure if I could imagine a more comfortable saddle in terms of what changes I would make. I am constantly using the different attachment points, and am a huge fan of the leg loops. And after spending several nights in my Tengu (and pleasantly forgetting that it was there), I would recommend this saddle to anyone wholeheartedly.

This saddle is great. It is extremely comfortable and can stand about anything. It has a ton of gear attachment points for the technical climber and works flawlessly with double rope technique. I would recommend this harness to anyone who loves to climb.
