I've been using the same pair of PMI gloves for over 8 years! Some retailers call these "training" gloves because they handle heavy use/abuse day, after day, after day. They're great for rappelling and rescue work, as well as general hand protection. They ARE hot to wear in the summer, but thats a trade off for not getting your hands burned by a fast moving rope. The multi-layer palm and finger guard protect you mitts well. The only things I would add are a cinch cord or velcro strap on the wrist, and a grommet for hanging on my rig. (The thin leather hanging strap broke quickly, so I installed a grommet myself)
